On a commuting day with stairs and a desk, how do you keep the Dr.Join Knee Support in place?

On a commuting day, check the Dr.Join Knee Support by BMS CO., LTD. before you leave and again after the stairs. This product is not sold or registered as a medical device in the UK.

A weekday commute can mean station stairs, a seat on the train or bus, a desk, and more stairs on the way home. The Dr.Join Knee Support is an adjustable external knee support, and it is meant for everyday movement such as walking. Its silicone supports wrap around the knee, and a non-slip guide helps the support stay in place while you move.

What do you check before you leave?

Before you set off, seat the central silicone support slightly below the kneecap, with the triangle mark pointing up and one spring on each side of the knee, then bend and straighten your knee gently to check that the support stays in place. Start with light compression and tighten gradually. The support should feel snug and secure, never tight or painful.

How do you check it during the day?

Moment What to do
After the station stairs Bend and straighten your knee a few times. If the support has shifted, adjust the strap until it feels stable, without overtightening.
On the train or bus While seated, check that you can still bend and move your knee freely. If the strap feels too tight, loosen it.
At your desk Use the support as needed. Take it off from time to time to check your skin and let it rest.
Standing up again Check that the central support still sits slightly below the kneecap, with one spring on each side.
Back home Unfasten the strap and take the support off. Check your skin. Never wear it while sleeping.

After you wear it for the first time, remove it and check your skin.

What is its position in the UK?

This product is not sold or registered as a medical device in the UK.

Before you use

Do not use the support on open wounds or on skin that is infected, inflamed or severely irritated, if you are allergic to any of its materials, while sleeping, or if it is damaged or the springs are bent out of shape. Do not use it if you cannot feel or communicate pressure or discomfort, unless directed and supervised by a healthcare professional. Do not overtighten the straps: excessive compression can restrict blood flow and may cause numbness, tingling, skin damage, or injury.

Talk to a doctor before use if you have an acute (recent) knee injury, a suspected fracture or severe swelling; a skin condition where the support will be worn; poor blood circulation, diabetes or reduced skin sensation in your legs; or if you have recently had knee surgery.

FAQ

Can I wear the support over thin clothing?

Yes. You can wear the support on bare, intact skin or over thin clothing. Make sure the central support sits slightly below the kneecap and the strap is snug without limiting your movement.

What should I do if the support shifts on the stairs?

Seat it again so that the central silicone support sits slightly below the kneecap, with one spring on each side of the knee. Then adjust the strap until it feels stable, without overtightening, and bend and straighten your knee gently to check.

What if my leg feels numb or tingly on the journey?

Loosen or remove the support immediately. If you feel pain, numbness, tingling, loss of sensation, skin rash, discolouration, unusual coldness or swelling, stop using the support and consult a healthcare professional right away.
