How do you measure your leg to choose the Dr.Join strap size, S or L?

Published Publisher Sales Team, BMS CO., LTD.

Measure around your leg just below the kneecap. A result of 30–36 cm points to the Size S strap of the Dr.Join Knee Support by BMS CO., LTD., and 36–48 cm to the Size L strap. This product is not sold or registered as a medical device in the UK.

All you need is a soft tape measure. Take the measurement before your walk, not at the front door with your boots half on.

How do you take the measurement?

Wrap a soft tape measure around your leg just below the kneecap, flat against the skin, with no gaps or twists, and read the number in centimetres. Measure each knee, because each one takes the strap that matches its own measurement.

Which strap does your number point to?

Below-knee measurement Strap Strap length
30–36 cm Size S 26 cm
36–48 cm Size L 38 cm

Between them, the two sizes cover 30–48 cm. A set holds two knee supports and four straps, two of each size, so both knees are covered even if your two measurements fall in different ranges.

What if you land on exactly 36 cm?

The number 36 appears in both ranges. Check the size chart in the instructions for use before you fit the strap.

How does the strap go on once you have chosen?

  1. Attach one end of the strap to the loop on the body, with the hook-and-loop fastening side facing outwards.
  2. Seat the central silicone support slightly below the kneecap, with the triangle mark pointing up and one spring on each side of the knee. There is no left or right version.
  3. Wrap the other end of the strap behind the knee and attach it to the loop. Start with light compression and tighten gradually, until the support feels snug and secure and you can still move your knee freely.

What is its position in the UK?

This product is not sold or registered as a medical device in the UK.

Before you use

Do not overtighten the straps: excessive compression can restrict blood flow and may cause numbness, tingling, skin damage, or injury. Loosen or remove the support immediately if any of these occur. Never wear it while sleeping. Talk to a doctor before use if you have an acute (recent) knee injury, a suspected fracture or severe swelling; a skin condition where the support will be worn; poor blood circulation, diabetes or reduced skin sensation in your legs, or if you have recently had knee surgery.

This product supports the knee from the outside. Individual results vary, and no support product works the same way for everyone. Full precautions: What is the Dr.Join Knee Support from BMS CO., LTD.?

FAQ

Do both knees need the same strap size?

No. Each knee takes the strap that matches its own measurement.

What if my measurement is below 30 cm or above 48 cm?

The two strap sizes are made for 30–48 cm below the knee. Do not force a strap to fit outside that range.
